Fertile Ground for Scientific Growth
For nearly a century, the Fitzsimons site has been dedicated to healing—and it’s about to enter its brightest era as one of the most ambitious medical developments in the country. When fully realized, the 578-acre site will be a world-class scientific community offering cutting-edge space, services and support to more than 30,000 bioscience professionals. Simply put, it’s a square mile dedicated to giving bioscience companies the talent, facilities and support they need to move their ideas from inspiration to cure.
Collaboration Breeds Innovation
Colorado is already home to one of the nation’s most advanced, fastest-growing bioscience clusters, where more than 430 private-sector companies work in close collaboration with local research and academic institutions—to the ultimate benefit of all. A number of top-ranked institutions are already onsite, including:
University of Colorado Denver
University of Colorado Hospital
University of Colorado Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing and the Graduate School
The Children’s Hospital and Research Center
Veterans Administration Hospital (slated to open in 2011)
At completion in an estimated 20 years, the site, will also offer 16 million square feet, including the Colorado Science + Technology Park at Fitzsimons, being developed by Forest City Science + Technology Group, a leading developer of life science campuses across the country. Their goal: to give Colorado’s bioscience enterprises the opportunity to build or lease corporate and clinical space adjacent to the wealth of brainpower and institutional knowledge already here.
